Pregnancy is a period of profound biological, psychological, and social change, with implications for both parents and children. Our research examines how experiences during pregnancy—including stress, mental health, relationships, and broader environmental conditions—shape maternal well-being, family functioning, and children’s development over time. We are especially interested in how these early influences become embedded across development and contribute to both risk and resilience. Our goal is to understand how experiences beginning in pregnancy shape mental health across generations, and how that knowledge can inform earlier and more effective support for families.
