Congratulations to our Director, Dr. Rebecca Waller, on the publication of a paper examining the association between state-level access to reproductive care and suicide rates among birthing individuals of reproductive age in the United States.

Findings suggested that state-level access to reproductive care, including family planning services and abortion care, is associated with lower suicide rates among birthing individuals of reproductive age. Furthermore, the association between state-level access to reproductive care and suicide rates is stronger in individuals aged 20 to 24 as compared to individuals aged 25 to 34. These findings have important implications for public health policies that aim to improve access to reproductive care and reduce suicide rates among birthing individuals of reproductive age.
